NGC 4725 (center) is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Coma Berenices, approximately 41 million light-years away from Earth. The galaxy has a diameter of about 110,000 light-years and is inclined at an angle of about 38 degrees with respect to our line of sight. It has a bright central bulge and two spiral arms that extend from the ends of a prominent bar.
The galaxy is known for its active nucleus, which emits high-energy radiation, including X-rays and radio waves. It is classified as a Seyfert galaxy, which means it has an active galactic nucleus powered by a supermassive black hole at its center. The black hole in NGC 4725 has a mass of about 4.4 million times that of the Sun.
NGC 4725 is also known for its numerous star-forming regions, which can be seen as bright knots and filaments within the spiral arms. These regions are fueled by the galaxy's abundant supply of molecular gas, which is concentrated in the central regions and along the bar.

NGC 4725 (center) and NGC 4747 (upper left) are neighbors, the small galaxy NGC 4712 at the right is about 207 million light-years away.

Tidal interaction with supergiant spiral NGC 4725, is the probable cause for the severe distortion of the smaller NGC 4747 galaxy. This interaction has given NGC 4747 three tidal tails, two large at the upper left and a smaller one at the opposite end of the galaxy.
